Alex Lora's Encounter with Narco Rafael Caro Quintero

In a recent anecdote shared by Alex Lora, recognized as the vocalist of the emblematic Mexican rock band El Tri, it was revealed that during a performance at the Reclusorio Norte in Mexico City, the drug trafficker Rafael Caro Quintero requested him to sing the song "Sara." Caro Quintero, known for his leadership in the Guadalajara Cartel and the Caborca Cartel, was considered one of the most influential drug traffickers in Mexico.

During an interview with Franco Escamilla on the show "La Cotorrisa" in 2023, Alex Lora described the experience in which he agreed to perform the requested song. The audience at the prison was described by Lora as a place with unusual luxuries for a penitentiary, featuring a gym, garden, and other extravagant details provided by Caro Quintero.

The song "Sara" is inspired by the impossible love story between Rafael Caro Quintero and Sara Cosío, the daughter of a prominent Mexican politician. Lora agreed to sing it as a gesture towards the drug trafficker, who in gratitude gifted him boxes with elephant legs from Bacardí and Presidente, bags of marijuana, Coca-Colas, sugar for coffee, among other unconventional gifts.

This gesture, which initially seemed like a simple song request, ended up in a curious anecdote in which Alex Lora and his band received unique gifts from the drug trafficker Rafael Caro Quintero.
